Patients must be Severely Clinically
Obese
BMI greater than 40 or a BMI 35-40 with severe
associated medical conditions, such as diabetes,
high blood pressure, or sleep apnea. To determine

Patients must be Well Informed
Candidates will be educated pre-operatively
during sessions with the surgeon, dietitian
and psychologist. It is imperative that patients
understand the operative risks, operative procedures,
diet progression, and lifestyle changes required
after surgery.
Patients must be Motivated and Committed
Prior weight loss attempts must be
documented; particularly medically managed programs.
Patients should also be committed to lifelong
follow-up with our weight loss surgery program.
Willingness to choose healthy foods and beverages,
take vitamin and mineral supplements forever,
abstain from tobacco use and exercise regularly
are also required.
